Sons of the
American Revolution

The SAR is a historical, educational, and patriotic nonprofit, U.S. 501(c)3, corporation that seeks to maintain and extend the institutions of American freedom; an appreciation for true patriotism; a respect for our national symbols; the value of American citizenship; and the unifying force of e pluribus unum that has created, from the people of many nations, one nation and one people.

We do this by perpetuating the stories of patriotism, courage, sac-rifice, tragedy, and triumph of the men who achieved the indepen-dence of the American people in the belief that these stories are universal ones of man's eternal struggle against tyranny, relevant to all time, and will inspire and strengthen each succeeding generation as it too is called upon to defend our freedoms on the battlefield and in our public institutions.

Rockland County Solid
Waste Management Authority
www.rocklandrecycles.com

The Rockland County Solid Waste Manage-ment Authority was created by the Rockland County Legislature in September 1994. Prior to its inception, the Solid Waste Management Com-mittee existed as a subcommittee of the County Legislature. The task before the committee was what seemed to many for years to be insurmountable: The committee was charged by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation to develop a Solid Waste Management Plan that would help to resolve the County's past, present and future solid waste issues.

The authority offers tours to the public of the Herb Reisman Environmental Edu-cation Center. You will find out where our garbage goes, how recycling works, how to turn leaves, grass and food waste into compost, how to dispose of household hazardous materials and other important issues affecting our environment.
